Description: “This Brave New World” is the fourth and final album by Brainstorm, the Neo-contemporary instrumental duet.
The bold and striking artwork of “This Brave New World” characterizes the sci-fi theme running through the album, concerning society’s over-use of technology at the expense of our own freedom and humanity. Like the previous Brainstorm albums, the imagery is dark, but there is always hope that shines through in the melodies.
“This Brave New World” moves the music closer to the classic stylings of progressive rock. emphasizing more guitar, varying in style and tone, serving to enhance the mystery and drama characterizing each song, such as in the title track, “This Brave New World”. On the album, Cannizzaro’s percussion work incorporates more live drumming, creating a contemporary rock band feel. Connolly’s keyboard tracks and seasoned flute playing is still the melodic centerpiece for this collection of 12 catchy and original tracks in what some critics say is the best Brainstorm album out of the four.
